In October, Director of Communications and Public Outreach Shaylon Cochran and CIRCAC SkillBridge intern Kaleena Barnes visited Amanda Friendshuh’s third grade class at Chapman Elementary in Anchor Point. Kaleena led a staff project to develop an education module that we can take to local schools. Students are given a brief overview of the Exxon Valdez oil spill, including exercises and activities designed to explain the scope of that event, its immediate and ongoing effects, and CIRCAC’s role in prevention and response. The program was designed to be modular and used for students as young as 3rd grade and through high school.
